Minister Cele must investigate reports of use of live ammunition during the Mahikeng protest

The DA urges the Police Minister, Bheki Cele, to thoroughly investigate the extremely concerning reports of the use of live ammunition by South African Police Services (SAPS) in Mahikeng during a standoff between the police and residents following the continuous service delivery protests.

The Democratic Alliance in North West lodged a complaint yesterday, Wednesday 22 February 2018, at the South African Human Rights Commission’s Provincial Office in Rustenburg about the unhealthy circumstances at the Boitumelo Primary School in Bethel near Mafikeng.
