Johannesburg Central Police arrested a 24 year old male Zimbabwean National for business robbery at corner Rissik and Jeppe Street on the 05th of December 2018 at 07:00.
It is alleged that two males entered Springbok Supermarket shop corner Bree and Joubert Street pretending to be customers; one pointed a cashier and a security guard with a firearm while his accomplices took an undisclosed amount of money in the till.
While fleeing the scene security guard screamed for help and the community came to his rescue. One suspect was apprehended and the bag with money recovered. He was assaulted by the community before police came to his rescue; he was taken to hospital by an ambulance under police guard. Suspect in possession of a firearm is still at large.
Investigation is under way and suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
