South African agriculture is an exceptional investment destination and would be the main driver of inclusive economic growth and job creation if security of tenure is ensured. Agri SA will be discussing the threat of expropriation without compensation (EWC), the importance of foreign investment into agriculture and showcase specific transformation projects at the upcoming annual congress on 9 & 10 October 2018. The theme of this year’s congress is “Land – the link to shared prosperity in South Africa”.
Speakers will include:
- Patrice Motsepe (Executive Chairman of African Rainbow Minerals)
- Vassi Naidoo (Chairman of Nedbank)
- Jesus Madrazo (Executive at Bayer)
More than 200 key decisionmakers in agriculture will be attending the congress in Pretoria, Gauteng to share their views. This is an important opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the best way forward on policy questions such as EWC and agrarian reform. The congress also serves as the official mandating process for Agri SA.
“This is a watershed moment in South Africa, as we need to consider how to ensure expeditious agrarian reform, while engaging with stakeholders to indicate why EWC will be counterproductive for successful transformation,” said Dan Kriek, Agri SA President. “We live in challenging times in South Africa, we have to work together to have shared prosperity for all.”
Agri SA will host its membership, senior representatives of Government, international investors, the diplomatic community, and the agriculture value chain. If you would like to attend the event, contact Thea Liebenberg at firstname.lastname@example.org.
