Heat topple Giants to continue their MSL fight back

Durban - The Durban Heat continued their spirited comeback when they cruised to emphatic seven wicket victory over the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in their Mzansi Super League match at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead on Saturday.
After the Giants won the toss and chose to bat first, Keshav Maharaj set the tone with the ball picking up the first three wickets of the innings after the Giants openers put on 67.
The left arm spinner claimed both openers and Heino Khun without scoring, sending the visitors from 67 without loss to 75 for three.
Giants captain Jon-Jon Smuts scored 54 from 37 balls to help his side to a more than commendable 173 for six in their twenty overs.
Andile Phehlukwayo picked up two wickets for the Heat in his three overs while Malusi Siboto bagged the other wicket.
In reply the Heat lost Wesley Marshall early before Alex Hales and Wihan Lubbe put on a quick-fire 51 for the second wicket.
Lubbe continued his impressive run with 31 off just eleven balls.
Dave Miller then showed his form with a composed fifty not out off just 39 balls.
Dane Vilas played an important part with a crucial 25 off just fourteen deliveries. His partnership with Miller was worth 44 that got the Heat close.
Ravi Bopara backed up his tidy bowling spell with eighteen off just eight balls as the Heat won with seven balls to spare.
Skipper Villas highlighted the bowling spell from Maharaj and the onslaught from Lubbe as a crucial moments that changed the pace of the match.
He added that the back-to-back wins chasing big scores reflected the determination in the team.
"It was a great effort," he said. "I think it was a record chase here at Kingsmead, so I couldn't have asked for any more."
"Everyone is standing up," he added. "We want to do well in this competition. We are keen and we are excited and a great team to be part of."
The win sees the Heat go back-to-back with wins as they prepare to take on the Paarl Rocks in Paarl on Wednesday.
